A/W Skincare Updates
The change in weather caught me by surprise this year for sure. One day it was 75 degrees and the very next one temperatures dropped below 40. It’s been an exceptionally warm November to be fair, and part of me was ready for the cooler days to come and get that festive feeling from these months.
The abrupt difference had me layering not only my clothes, but my skincare too
Up until a few days, my skincare was very minimal and light because it was still warm outside. Using lighter moisturizers and serums were keeping my skin fresh throughout the day, specially since I started going back to the office and using makeup more often again.
For Autumn and Winter however, I like to focus on hydration and use thicker formulas to maintain my skin nourished.
First thing I add is a good hyaluronic acid to use morning and night (specially at night). I have been obsessed with Beauty Pie products lately. Their triple hyaluronic acid has made such an incredible difference to my skin and has kept it looking bouncy and plumped.
Second, I make sure to use balm cleansers or oil based ones on a daily. They help my skin feel hydrated when the weather is very dry. I double cleanse, specially if I’ve been wearing makeup, and choose products that are gentle and hydrating for my skin.
Another product I like to switch is my moisturizer. Moving away from lighter formulas to heavier, thicker ones definitely make a difference. I am very specific with my moisturizers, I like what I like and rarely try anything new to be honest. I love a good balmy like, fragrance-free moisturizer that leaves my skin glowy and plumped. My all time favorite has been the Biossance Omega Repair Cream, nothing compares to that one. Another couple of recent favorites are from Avene, the Tolerance is rich and super hydrating, and the XeraCalm has a balmy consistency, perfect for really cold days and night time. I have been interchangeably using them for the majority of this year and life-changing.
Other things I like to include are sheet masks, face masks, lip balms and face sprays. A very good one are humidifiers, it makes a HUGE difference to have one in your nightstand, believe me. So basically, anything that is nourishing and hydrating that can compliment my routine.
As the colors around me start to change, the leaves start to fall, and the air becomes crispier and cooler, I want everything to feel cozy, warm and comfortable. Having a selection of curated products I love to wear during each different season is my form of self care and self love. It’s in the small things we find joy, even if it comes in the form of a moisturizer.
